A Behavioural Thesis
You giants! You, who from this crag
Glance at us midgets far beneath
And throw our dreams back in our teeth
Why do you sink and sag?
You titans, you, who dwell on high
Out of reach of stick and spear
And fancy reverence in our fear
Will end like Captain Bligh!
And we, the stunted, crouching low
Beneath your notice, or so we hope
Creep in the shadow of the slope
To wreak destruction on the foe!
And we, in turn, look down on those
Whose straw and knot-grass spike our feet
They're vermin, yet they seem so sweet
Who cringe and cower 'neath our blows
