Zen Roots
Balanced calm across the bay
A school of stool goes floating by
As naiads wash their flaxen locks
The tree, isolated from other life
Cathches the b.m.'s with its roots
Eating beans and letting toots
Silence falls across the bay
And someone else might wonder why
A tangled tuft of knotted socks
Can make a sound as if it were a fife
Accompanying the night owl's hoots
As if the two were in cahoots
