Oddments From the Bookstores
The shelving groaned with weight tomes
Poor things: they missed their former homes
In reading rooms of earnest scholars.
The dust was thick on the pages
Gathered slowly through the ages
Silent but for acid-paper hollers
Silent men and women roamed the aisles
Exchanging stolen glances, secret smiles
And secret motes of sweet secretions
The air was laden with mystery
For the books were by Agatha Christery
