Filling For That Apocalyptic Sandwich
Who ate my doughnuts? I could weep
For I had long awaited that buttery warmth
And all that it entails. The sheer ecstasy
Of that hot sweetness that bursts forth
And engulfs me. Apocalyptic
Rushes of jelly filling suffuse me with giddiness
And now some thief has denied me that pleasure
Now where's that sandwich? I could have sworn
I left it there. I'd just finished adding mayo
And cutting it cross-wise, just so
The crusts removed and tiny
Crumbs of bacon scattered fetchingly about
The slices of banana - not too thick, nor thin
And now some sandwich-swiper has prevented me from attaining Nirvana
What happened to my beer? I'd only just
Set it down for a moment so I could grab more pretzels
To add to the enjoyment. Cold and foaming it was
Effervescent. Crisp. Intoxicating. Shall I go on?
Oh do, do ...
Allow me my diatropisms, they keep me sane
In a world where comestibles mysteriously vanish
Oh pooh pooh ...
What a world, what a world. I starve, I am
Tempted to suspend myself in a glass box for 44 days
