Yesteryear Forgotten
Barmy rain lady, why stand in the rain?
Umbrella all riddled with holes
looking into your eyes i can see the pain
From your rags and the shoes with no soles
Loopy sun fellow, why stand in the glare?
with a world of new horizans at your feet
Looking into your eyes I see no-one there
A true love will I ever meet
Naked beach nut, why freeze in the spume?
Is this really what Nature intends?
Looking into your eyes I see the salty flume
The depth of them! They give me the bends.
Mad dog and Englishman, why go outside?
You know you'll get burned in the sun
Looking into your eyes I see they have died
Charred and six feet under, pardon the pun
Polar explorer, why cut through the ice?
Your malamutes are longing to sled
And longing to skate, your resident mice
On very thin ice do you tread
Smarmy desert gal, why stand in the sand?
When all of your friends have gone home?
Looking into your eyes, I find I understand
All roads do not lead to Rome
Freezing brass monkey, why go without pants?
It cannot be good for our souls
Looking into your eyes, I see that it grants
No assurance of reaching our goals
Crabby hermit, why stay in your shell?
When worlds are out there to explore
Looking into your eyes, I see how you dwell
And that you can't take anymore
