The Pennyweight Sauce
A pennyweight of muskets scattered on the dock
And half a ton of hydrogen suspended from a crane
A quarter of a hairsbreadth of pickles in my sock
And one for the little boy who lives down the lane.
A jugful of liebfraumilch dribbling down my chin
A kilogram of gingernuts in my trouser pocket
A lapful of squirming puppies isn't such a sin
As those committed nightly by little Lucy Lockett
An eggcupful of Jupiter strewn about the house
A well of gravitation that stops me going out
A saucerful of moonlight on the whiskers of a mouse
The milk of human kindness, what life is all about
