Ruined Dreamscapes
I had an eerie dream last week
(One which will wake you with a shriek)
Though why you're dreaming, I don't know,
Nor do I care; the dream was so
Strange and scary - yet compelling -
Manged and hairy - soon bestselling -
That I can't say another word
Without it seeming too absurd...
So – what dreams have you concealed
When, on a plate, you lay congealed?
When, on a table laid for two
You spat out a farmyard zoo,
Complete with seven nested foals
That seemed to swim across the bowls
Left out to trap the winter's drought
By some impatient stupid trout
What fantasies, what fleeting whims
Have kept you drinking from that Pimm's?!
I plan one further night-time trip
If I can give my nurse the slip
My wife once wore when, in her prime
With lustrous eyes and lips sublime,
or to that dreaming state take her to be with me
And openly espouse another dynasty
