Increasingly Preposterous Homilies
The champagne glass lies shattered
The shards will cut our feet
As if really mattered
When life has left you battered
Inept and indiscreet
The sobbing and the screaming
Will cut me deeper still
Than splintered glass still gleaming
And both the kids just beaming
I need another pill
Oh drat! - they've beat me to 'em
I'll have to chug a beer
To drown my state of ruin
I'm thinking, should I sue 'em?
Another lousy year
