Unblinking Again
Atop my desk, her portrait stared
Into the redness as I glared
Athwart the mildewed baize
Into the sunny haze,
In half-a-dozen ways
For I am but a dreamer still,
Caught on the wasted afternoon
Drifting aimlessly away into free verse like a swan down a culvert
And lost all too soon
