Enduring Without Succor
If fish could scream
In compound time
Perhaps their crime
Would scarcely seem
Worthy its weight
Or cause for Fate
to spurn our rhyme
And yet, betimes,
When gapes bespeak
What all do seek
Nickels and dimes
Will come to pass
We cry, alas!
For we are weak
